What else is totally normal with the changing of seasons other than a cold you can't get rid of? To help combat my families' recent streak of sicknesses I made some spicy chicken soup, hold the noodles. This is a combo of many recipes over the years, which makes it hard to get an exact recipe but I'll give you the ingredients.
Cooking for me is a feeling and the ultimate grazing experience. I taste a lot, which doesn't make me the best dinner date since I'm full by the time things are done. Feel free to add or subtract whatever you want, a lot of what was in this recent batch came from the farmer's market.
1 whole chicken (5 - 7 lbs)
3 whole carrots
1 whole yellow onion
3 stalks of celery (not my favorite flavor, so I use less)
1 bunch of Kale
1 jalapeno (clean out some of the seeds)
Chicken Stock (Fill your crockpot so it covers the whole chicken)
3 garlic cloves
Red Chili Flakes
I use a crockpot to make my chicken soup. Combine all of the ingredients, you can cut them however you prefer and then forget about it for a while (roughly 45 mins, you're going to want to mix it every so often). Cook time takes about 3 - 4 hours depending on how big your chicken is. At the end I like to drain the stock to make it easier to find the bay leaves and thyme sprigs.
